Our story

One building, and everyone in it knows everyone.

One community on Brookhurst Street, in the middle of Orange County. Assisted living and memory care under the same roof, with one team looking after both.

That size is the point. Small enough that the person who cooks lunch knows who takes it without salt, and that a family can find the administrator by walking down the corridor.

What we are for

Everyone who lives here should be known by name, and everyone who works here should have the time to use it.

That is the whole ambition, and everything below is in service of it: the size of the building, keeping both care lines under one roof, and the way the rotas are written.

Why it is set up this way

Nobody should have to move house to get more help.

The hardest moment in senior living is the one where somebody's needs outgrow where they live, and the answer is a move to a different building, different staff and different faces.

Both care lines are here, so that move is a change of care rather than a change of address. Care is reviewed as needs change, and the people stay the same.

The building

A Tudor frame, a lawn, and palms older than the sign.

The community sits back from Brookhurst behind a lawn and a row of mature palms. Inside, the rooms everyone uses are arranged around a foyer with a piano in it.

The illustration in our logo is a drawing of this building. Not a generic house — the front of the place itself, palms and all.

“I was impressed with the community’s look and feel, cleanliness, and layout. The staff are friendly and very helpful! I could tell that the residents I met really enjoyed living there.”

How we work

Four things we will not quietly stop doing.

  • The calendar is published, not promised

A real month of activities goes out to residents and goes up here, so you can read what a Tuesday actually looks like before you visit.

  • The same people, shift after shift

Assignments stay put wherever the roster allows. It is better care, and it is how staff come to know a resident rather than a room number.

  • Come at lunchtime, unannounced

The busiest hour is the honest one. You are welcome to turn up and eat with us rather than be walked through an empty building.

  • Answers, including the awkward ones

Costs, what care is reviewed and when, what happens if needs change. If we do not know, we will say so and find out.

Come and see

The building will tell you more than we can.

Walk in, look around, eat lunch, ask the staff whatever you like. There is no charge, no obligation, and no script.
